After hearing how well this match was run and from discussing with the various people at my local club that were lucky enough to attend this match, also one of them the overall winner, a Mr. Philip Jackson. They simply said that this match
will remain for them, one of the most memorial fishing experiences they have ever had in their lives. Unfortunately due to a clash of dates and work commitments, i was unable to attend. However if this match were to go ahead for the following year, it will be without a doubt the number one match that i will desire to enter. Credit where credit is due, this would simply be the match to enter in 2013. My respect goes to all of the organization and indeed the official referee, who i was told done a great job each of the five days to make sure the festival ran smoothly. Best wishes, i really hope this match re-occurs in 2013.

It was a wonderful week but the distances we had to travel between the A and the B section are sometimes too big.
Great match, keep it running, well done lads!

This was a first class event. I was really impressed. I will definitely compete next year if the event runs again. I do so hope that it does.

I wrote before I fished the World Pairs Championship how I was looking forward to such a professionally organised angling competition. It had all the details you wanted to know on it’s own website /face book and kept you up dated through
email for those with access to email.
Now for my honest opinion of World Pairs Championship.
First of all I am going to mention the only negative I can think of, which can be easily sorted out for next year. There were some delays in the Presentation Ceremony, which meant it went on too long, but “that’s easily sorted out for next year“.
Now I have only good things to say.
The organisation of the regional section draws in different Counties North and South of the border was faultless. At each location every morning there was fresh bait available at the draws, and at two of the locations there where quality tackle shops that opened early to accommodate our early draws. Once I had sorted my bait out and dipped my nets, I was ready to draw my peg. The best part of this was I did not have to queue for any of the draws for more than two minutes, in fact at three of the five draws there was no waiting at all. My one concern was finding the venues and my pegs at locations
in Southern Ireland that I had no idea where they where. I need not of worried, the regional section organisers had that well covered, with good verbal directions and good signposting right to your section. Once at your section there was a section steward to take charge, he did all the weighing in at the end of the match, which was very quick.
If you didn’t fish this years competition, you should log onto the World Pairs Championship website / face
book and look at the results, you will be surprised at the weights. You should also go onto the TalkAngling.co.uk website, Simon Young did some great coverage of the competition with all you needed to know before and after the event.
I hope that this years competitors get first choice when the entry forms come out next year, because I‘m sure it will be a sell out.
Finally, I firstly would like to thank the Sponsors Lakeland and Ireland Waterways and the Counties of Monaghan, Leitrim, Cavan and Fermanagh. There are too many people to thank personally for their hard work in making this a
great weeks fishing, so WELL DONE to you all.
Last but not least, we should all thank Kevin Locke for creating such a great competition that has brought Ireland back onto the major match calendar, WELL DONE Kevin.
I now have to finally admit I caught 44.200kg of roach and hybrids and never won a penny, out of nearly £90,000 pounds, STOP LAUGHING, and do you know I enjoyed it every minute. Hope to see you all next year.

Despite my own lack of success, it really was a brilliant match, with even the 18th pairing getting £1000. Match organiser Kevin Lock achieved what seemed like the imposable, with the 3 main area zones so far apart, but it all went smoothly and I heard no complaints whatsoever, only compliments. Well done Kevin you did a tremendous job. Log on to www.worldanglingpairs.com for all the detailed results. Bob

"The world Pairs match was the most exciting match that we have ever fished. The fact that we were fishing as a pair added a little more pressure than usual, as you didn't want to let the other side down. Fishing against some of the best anglers in the world was one thing, but to come out top was huge. The organisation, from dipping the nets and drawing, right through to the weigh in was second to none and very professionally executed. Its a shame that we have to wait another twelve months before it can happen again."

Everyone who is fishing the World Pairs Open this September in Ireland (10th to 14th) can rest assured you have a very large number of talented and dedicated people working on this match to make sure it is a success. This match sponsored by Lakelands & Inland Waterways and is going to go down in history for sure!
There are still a handful of tickets left for this years match so if you have been sitting on the fence waiting to see if this match is going to be as good as promised then now is the time to grab a partner and start dreaming of standing on the stage collecting a cheque for Ł30,000.
I was invited by the match organiser Kevin Locke to come over to take a look a how things are shaping up for this
historic event. Everyone realises that never has a match been run on this scale in Ireland and Northern Ireland and a great deal of organisation and co-operation is required, obviously we are all hoping it will become a fixture in the match fishing
calendar for years to come attracting thousands of returning anglers to the Emerald Isle.
This is set to be the richest course fishing match in history, some may say there are matches with bigger first prizes but those you need to qualify for the final – the World Pairs sponsored by Lakelands & Inland Waterways is an ‘open competition’ and
anyone can enter this big money final with a prize pool approaching Ł100,000 with 18th place in the pairs receiving Ł1,000!
Most of the best fishing sections in the North and South are being used and being pegged by the local anglers to ensure the best sport possible, it is anyone’s guess what weight will win the match – at this early stage I am going to put my stake in
the ground at around the 170 Kilo mark but I can see it being a very close run contest, a lot depends on the weather conditions and water levels.
During my two day trip I met loads of friendly faces - everyone from stewards to the match referee Mr Dick Caplice (Ex Ireland Manager) along with Damien owner of the Hamills B&B and Gabriel Owen who owns the tackle shop in Ballinamore, I couldn’t have had a warmer welcome and I am still recovering from having drank a cup of tea everywhere we went! A special mention needs to go to Eddie McGovern of Enniskillen Borough Council who has given loads of help and advice and also Alan Perry and Helen Rainsford of www.WorldPairsAngling.com who have along with Kevin Locke driven and motivated everyone involved with their massive enthusiasm.
I did also manage to have a little time for one of the best fillet steaks I have ever eaten at the Anglers Rest hotel in
Ballyconnell – The owner and Irish anger Francis McGoldrick having just come back from fishing ran straight into the kitchens to start his shift as the head chef, trust me it was well worth the wait and is highly recommended for a visit
while you are over. Obviously it would have been rude not to let a few pints of the black stuff disappear while chatting to the anglers that were staying in the hotel and later on a few photographs were taken so lets hope we don’t end up on
the front of some tourist brochure!

I have been fishing Angling Festivals all over Ireland for over 30 years, so it takes a lot to get my attention.
Having just received my confirmation of entry into the World Pairs Angling Championship. I have just gone onto the official web site www.worldpairsangling.com. If you haven’t seen it yet you are in for a pleasant surprise, this is how Top Fishing Festivals should be run, and has taken Angling into another league.
I remember Kevin Locke telling me about his idea for the World Pairs Angling Championship about 18 months ago, I have to say well done Kevin, you have done so well in getting this off the ground and making it such an exciting competition, that is so professionally organised.
Roll on September.
Regards to you all.
